Talbots, a leading specialty retailer of women's clothing, shoes and accessories, plans to reduce its store count from the 587 locations it currently operates to around 400.
Over the next two years, the company plans on closing 90-100 stores and consolidating/downsizing an additional 15 to 20.
In addition to its store closing strategy, Talbots plans on reinvesting in profitable stores and concepts:
Company plans on renovating 70 stores
Company plans on opening 20 upscale outlets
Company expects these actions to be completed by 2012.
